The story starts right where you leave off from the end of the first one where it took a dynamic turn for the gang and for Aly of course. Not only do you get to see where it picks up but you get to see how the turn of events affects the group.
Aly’s accident was no accident and it looks like Cole did it to the cops who put him as a prime example. And everyone knows it wasn’t him even if Aly was coming out of the building crying from a small fight that they had. No one knew that this was going to happen.
Not only that but Aly can’t remember certain things about her life. Not one of the most important things in her life. Cole.
Cole is absolutely devastated, not only is the girl that he is falling in love with can’t remember who he is but she is grasping onto his brother. And Clay is allowing her to do it as well.
Cole is on the outside looking in when it comes to the situation. Aly knows that Cole is Clay’s brother but her memory is gone and the things she remembers involve Clay, Cole’s Nova and hanging out with one another. No one wants to upset her progress to tell her that it is Cole she was dating and abou their fight.
Will they figure out who is behind all of this?
I’ll admit at 80 % I was about to throw my phone across the room because it was that bad. I wanted to throw it. I kept saying GOD NO WHY. NO. So if you are thinking stuff like that when you are reading and kind of like that sweet torture read this book.
I’ll admit. I fell in love with Clay. I like him better than Cole. No lie. I’m a sucker for secondary characters so hoping that I won't’ be tortured and will get to read a book three? Please say there is. Please. Big pouty lip, it’s even quivering.

Love reading this book! Jc Thompson has become one of my favorite writers! Thank you for your dedication to your fans/readers!
Some of my issues with the first book were not as big of a deal with this book. I understood the character motivations much better in this book. I was not a fan of the Clay situation. I did feel like the author was trying to set up future books so there were a lot of loose ends that didn't get tied up.
This author has only one mission. To make you feel so many emotions in one page.
We continue the story of Aly and Cole( hot couple by the way)
After finding out what her emotion toward him, Aly wants to spend her life him Cole.
Cole saw that Aly was for him, but he wasn't ready for this very strong thing that he was feeling for her.
Life gave him a lesson, he didn't want to loose her and he needed to fight his own demons.
I loved how this book was trying to put their story on a good path, but what a twist huh? I stayed like "am I reading this correctly?"
This books is definitely a 6 stars, I loved how Cole was the perfect patient lover for Aly and I loved how strong she was, I want more and maybe some other stories , just saying.

Shattered Illusions is the second novel in the Club Series written by J.C. Thompson, and the conclusion to Aly and Cole’s story. I read Illusions and absolutely could not wait to read Shattered Illusions. I read the first couple of pages, and had to put away the book. I was so flabbergasted by the plot twist, I just had to wrap my head around it before continuing. Wow, totally out of left field. Shattered Illusions is a pretty apt title for the first chapter. I was floored. Aly has a lot to think about, once she recovers from her injuries. There is a good bit of drama happening and the story moves really fast. I really felt for Cole and all of the things that were happening out of his control. He felt so powerless, and I felt powerless with him. There were some parts that left me flabbergasted, and there were others that I knew was going to happen.
All in all, I must say I was highly surprised by this book, and the conclusion (sort of) to Aly and Cole’s story. It seems like they will have strong cameos in future books. This was a very fast read for me. It left me wanting more. The story was well written and the author did a good job of keeping me in the story. I am looking forward to more, more, more.

Aly has her life on track owning an established nightclub and fell in love with a wonderful man. Then, her life was no longer on track. Aly struggles to get a grasp of her life, but she doesn’t hold all of the cards.
Cole broke Aly’s heart and instantly regretted it. He thought he was doing her right, but in all honesty, he was doing it all wrong. He needs the chance to make things right. He needs the chance to have Aly in his life. However, will he be dealt the cards to have the winning hand?
After reading Illusions, the first book in the series, I impatiently waited to read Shattered Illusions to find out how this story ends – I was not disappointed. Yet, it did feel that this book moved so much quicker than the first and it was finished before I knew it.
J.C. Thompson wrote a stunning finish to Aly and Cole’s story with drama, suspense, love and doubt. Their relationship is explosive in exactly the right way. The story was written with a great ending, but would have loved to seen more written in this final chapter for Aly and Cole, as I mentioned, it finished much quicker than I anticipated, even though it was the “perfect” ending for their story. The supporting characters continued in this book and I hope that this author writes books for each of them, which I have no doubt would be amazing.
